Caitlin

Caitlin models a look that pleases her parents yet still flirts with the boho spirit of carefree playfulness.

Make-Up: Main Make-up Ingredients: MAC: Apply Strobe Cream — to give the skin radiance, the buff Studio Fix Fluid -( in my experience it’s the longest wearing of MAC’s foundations which makes it ideal for brides) into the skin with a stippling brush (I like the #187). Apply “Shroom” to the inner corners of the eye, vanilla” under the brow bone, “Cork” and “bronze” to the crease, “All that glitters” to the ball of the eye and “graphblack” technakohl liner along the lashline with an angle brush. Fuzz the liner with a #219 pencil brush along the edge of the eye and into the outer edges of the crease. Gently exaggerate the line of the eye with “blacktrack” fluidline. Set the brows with clear brow gel, and then gently fill them[ Read more ]

My favorite of Rob's experiment with cross polarized lighting

Robert had a very interesting lighting setup for this shoot. He placed Polarization filters over his beauty box in order to block out “hot spots” and experiment withcross polarized lighting.

Pink Lady

I kept the eyes neutral toned, and sculpted them with texture, applied some individual false lashes (I find the individual lashes look more natural as they lack the “spine” visible with a full false lash) to bring out the shape of the eyes and then matched the lipstick to the wig with MAC’s Amplified Lipstick “Girl About Town”

Pro Tip: When you’re applying your make-up with a “natural look” in mind – where you want to sulpt the face with colour (ie a light colour under the browbone) but without frosting or noticeable shimmer in mind use a non-reflective eye-shadow like MAC’s “brule” and then apply a colour like “shroom” (which is basically the same colour in a more reflective texture) in small doses under the arch of the brow or in-between the eyes or apply a dollop of “woodwinked” – (a veluxe pearl and especially shiny eye-shadow in a colour fairly neutral to people with tanned skin) to the center of the lids. Doing this helps to contour the face, draw attention to specific areas and sculpt the face — and the application of a non-shiny version of the colour first allows the eyeshadow to “dilute” making blending easier and turning the shimmer into “amazing” lighting or bone structure.

Colette

This was my first shoot with both James and Caroline. James asked me for “something neutral” keeping the colours to creams, browns and greys.

James  wanted to focus on texture and light, monopolizing the unique set he designed for the shoot which utilized strategic channels of natural light with the help of an accompany assistant and his board, so it was important for the make-up to look “soft” and “fuzzy” whilst still sculpting Colette’s face. By using Colette’s natural colour palette ( the colours in her hair and skin) I was able to keep this look “simple” and “uncomplicated”

Main Make-Up ingredients: Blending! I used MAC’s #224 brush to really “fuzz down” her shadow and enable me to apply shadow from very light to dark without any tell-tale lines or patches. MAC eyeshadow: “brule”, “cork”, “garcon grey” lips: pencil in  “stripdown”  lipglass in “majestic”.

Main Hair ingredients: Rollers, “upload”, Bobby… [ Read more ]

Shades of Grey

This is one of the first images from my first shoot with James Strack. James asked me for “something neutral” keeping the colours to creams, browns and greys. James said he wanted to focus on texture and light, monopolizing the unique set he designed for the shoot which utilised strategic channels of natural light with the help of an accompany assistant and his board.

Main Hair ingredients: Rollers, “upload”, Bobby pins and hairspray – I applied OSIS “upload” to her roots, set her hair in rollers for some volume and height, and then clipped it back with some bobby-pins in a relaxed upstyle.

Chantelle

Chantelle models an evening look for a shoot with Luba – a stock photographer. Luba asked for an evening “glam smokey eye”.

Main Make-Up Ingredients: MAC Kohl Pencil in “smolder” , pigments in “dark soul” and “silver fog”.

Pro Tip: With a smokey eye, or any dark or dramatic eye make-up, always apply the eye make-up first and then the foundation after. That way you can wipe any “drop-down” (pigment or eye-shadow falling around the eye or onto the top of the cheekbone) rather than trying to brush it away and then having to re-do your foundation or concealer.

Bridal Boutique (2)

An additional post of the Robert Miller/ Chelsea L fresh faced bridal look. I sculpted her face with  texture rather than lines.

Robert and I went for some “Bridal shots”.  Rob and Cally and I were testing with Chelsea L from Infinity – Cally had a Gavin Rajah silvery, slinky, beaded wedding dress with her so we went ahead with a fresh skinned “bridal” look.

Main Make-Up ingredients: MAC: strobe cream (radiance), face and body foundation (powder only where necessary), mineralise skinfinish (one shade darker than her complexion for a gentle contour – alt product, bronzer in “golden”) eyeshadow: “cork” , “brule”, “vanilla”, cremeblush in “uncommon” lip pencil: “spice” lipstick: “honeylove” mixed with “kinda sexy” topped with clear lipglass.

Main Hair ingredients: Bobby-Pins, Brilliant Blonde Shine cream.
